The Education and Early Childhood Careers training program is designed to help students learn about the background and professional competencies needed for employment in the field of Early Childhood Education. Through classroom instruction and direct hands-on experiences in an actual on-site preschool and elementary school classrooms, the student is able to obtain the skills and clock hours needed to qualify for the National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential after graduation. During the course of the program, students will gain knowledge of teaching techniques by preparing and supervising planned activities that enhance young children's physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development. Other areas of instruction include operational procedures of early childhood centers, child development, educational activities, organizational skills, professionalism, and report and journal writing skills.
