South Haven Elementary is one of two schools in the South Haven community. The school is located at 395 Midway Drive, Valparaiso, Indiana. South Haven Elementary is a K-5 school with a current enrollment of 420 students. South Haven Elementary also houses 3 classes for The Porter County Special Education Cooperative as well as the high school Vocational Child Care Program. South Haven Elementary has a dedicated faculty and staff with the mission to help each student continue to reach their full potential.

South Haven Elementary has been awarded the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award in 2007. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Department of Education and is given to schools that challenge students to perform at high academic levels and make significant progress in closing the achievement gap between highest and lowest performing students. South Haven Elementary has been recognized by the state of Indiana as an EXEMPLARY school based on continuous academic improvement on ISTEP+ annual assessment and attendance expectations. The school has been recognized for this award since 2005. South Haven Elementary School was awarded the Indiana State Reading Association Exemplary Reading Award 2008. There is only one awarded for the entire state. South Haven Elementary also achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) again this year for continuous improvement in ISTEP+ scores. The school has achieved this award every year since 2002. The new State department of education ranking system follows the A-F report card grades. South Haven received the honor of and "A" this past year as well as achieving "Exemplary" status again this year. The dedication of teachers, support staff, and parental involvement enables us to achieve significant educational goals with and for our children.

South Haven Elementary provides a safe, secure, and healthy environment for students' learning. Students are provided with a positive, nurturing environment with a full range of educational programs. Students strive for excellence through such programs as Accelerated Reader, Star Math, and Star Reader. South Haven Elementary students are recognized for success in an effort to motivate them to continue to do their personal best each and every day.
